The Amsterdam City Challenge was an exciting 24-hour event held during the WeMakeThe.City festival, as part of the EIT Climate-KIC's renowned "Climathon" series. This pressure cooker / hackathon style event was designed to push students and young professionals to develop innovative solutions for smart mobility and energy saving in Amsterdam. As a co-facilitator, I had the pleasure of leading this wonderful journey full of team spirit, creativity, ideation, co-creation, and engaging fun activities.

Still curious?
Why use the Design Sprint methodology for a Hackathon or Bootcamp?
The Design Sprint methodology can be an effective approach to use for a Hackathon or Bootcamp for several reasons. Firstly, it provides a structured framework for innovation that can help teams to rapidly ideate and prototype solutions to complex challenges. This can be particularly beneficial in a fast-paced environment like a Hackathon or Bootcamp, where time is limited and teams need to be focused and efficient.
Secondly, the Design Sprint methodology promotes collaboration and cross-functional teamwork, which is essential for success in a Hackathon or Bootcamp. By bringing together people with different skills and expertise, teams can approach problems from different angles and develop innovative solutions that may not have been possible with a more siloed approach. The Design Sprint methodology provides a clear process for how teams can work together to rapidly prototype and test their ideas, allowing them to iterate and refine their solutions based on feedback from stakeholders and users.
Overall, the Design Sprint methodology can help to foster a culture of innovation and collaboration in a Hackathon or Bootcamp, and enable teams to rapidly develop and test solutions to complex challenges. By providing a structured approach to ideation and prototyping, the Design Sprint can help to ensure that teams are focused and efficient in their work, and can produce tangible results in a short amount of time.
